Wall of Freedom and Energy

The world-famous Lennon Wall, a symbol of peace and freedom, was getting a new look. On Wednesday 7 September, it was repainted by 27 artists from the EU and special guests from Ukraine and Norway under the international cultural project „WALL OF FREEDOM AND ENERGY / LENNON WALL PRAHA“, which is part of the Czech EU Presidency. The author and curator of the project is artist Pavel Šťastný and the co-organizer cultural producer Robin Suchánek.

After the work was unveiled, the famous Lennon Wall, located on Velkopřevorské náměstí in the centre of Prague’s Lesser Town, was professionally photographed. The photographs was then be sent to a Czech company that produces hot air balloons and other inflatables to make an inflatable Lennon wall in the same dimensions as the original. With this inflatable Lennon Wall, Šťastný and Suchánek plan to visit Strasbourg, Paris, Brussels and Luxembourg in October, where the wall will be inflated to represent the culture of the Czech Republic and the EU.

This international cultural project „WALL OF FREEDOM AND ENERGY / LENNON WALL PRAHA“ has been created in cooperation with Jan Horník, Vice-Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and Michel Fleischmann, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Paris.

The project is under the auspices the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, the Prague 1 Municipal District, the Czech Chamber of Commerce, the French-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Czech Tourism and The Mozart Prague hotel.
